About
Dodgeball Australia (DA) is the official Governing Body that coordinates, governs and develops the sport of Dodgeball, in Australia. 
In May, 2018 the DA received official recognition as a National Sporting Organisation by Sport Australia (Australian Sports Commission).
DA is an affiliate member of the World Dodgeball Association (WDA) – the internationally recognised Governing Body of Dodgeball. The WDA manages and helps develop Dodgeball around the world, from grassroots to high performance level, overseeing continental bodies and general growth of the sport.
DA is also an affiliate member of the Asian Dodgeball Federation (ADF), the continental governing body for the Asia and Oceania regions. The ADF is responsible for hosting regional events such as the Asian Dodgeball Championships, and oversees the development of the sport within the region, working alongside national bodies and WDA.
In 2017, the WDA received Observer Status with the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF – previously SportAccord). This opens up some great opportunities for the sport worldwide in growing participation, and further enhances the professionalism behind the sport. This provides the game with further impetus behind its ambition to become an Olympic and Paralympic sport.
The long-term objective of the WDA is to become an official Olympic and Paralympic sport, aiding the development and recognition of Dodgeball around the world. This process is scheduled to take between 12 – 16 years, where plans are in place to have this goal come to fruition.
The WDA has also acquired base recognition in 2017 from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), complying with other leading world bodies, including the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA).
Our focus at DA is to help cultivate the development of Dodgeball, raise the profile of the sport and grow participation rates of Dodgeball across the country. Together with our key stakeholders and sponsors, we aspire to have our sport recognised and acknowledged as a mainstay within the mainstream sporting fraternity.
Development programs, social activities, coaching and tournaments will be run around the country – helping us identity key areas which will aid in the growth of the sport, all the way through to our national teams, the Australian Dodgeroos.

Australian Dodgeroos
The Chemist Warehouse Australian Dodgeroos are Australia’s national representatives on the international stage. The National Team comprises of four teams – Men’s, Women’s, Mixed and Under 21’s.
Making its debut in 2015, the Dodgeroos have illustrated its prowess at international level. Thus far, Australia has four titles to its name, including the 2015 Asian Championships – won by our men’s, women’s and mixed teams. The biggest achievement, the 2016 World Cup, where our women’s team prevailed in remarkable fashion, beating the world’s heavyweights to be crowned world champions.
In 2017, the Dodgeroos competed at the Asia Pacific Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the Axiata Arena, where a record 10 nations competed across the region. Each of Australia’s Men’s, Mixed and Women’s teams won Silver, successfully qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in New York City, at Madison Square Garden.
The Australian squad, comprising of four teams, were the most successful nation at the tournament, topping the medal tally across the four divisions.
The Dodgeroos were crowned champions in the Men’s and Mixed Divisions, Silver medalists in the Women’s Division, whilst our inaugural Under 21’s team took home Bronze. Subsequently, each of Australia’s teams have earned a qualification berth for the 2020 World Cup in Cairo, Egypt.
Due to the worldwide impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 World Cup in Cairo, Egypt – originally scheduled for July – was postponed indefinitely. Further details will be available in due course.
National League
The Australian Dodgeball Premier League (ADPL) is the official national league of Australian Dodgeball. The league launched in 2016 – with the inaugural season staged in Melbourne (Victoria Conference).
The ADPL expanded its competition in Victoria for the 2017 season, with the inclusion of three divisions – Men’s, Mixed and Women’s. Nationwide, the competition also saw the introduction a New South Wales Conference, based in Sydney.
For the first-time, there was an ADPL National Finals Series and a National Dodgeball Australia Cup competition at the conclusion of the state-based season in December, 2017.
There are further plans to expand the ADPL across Australia in the near future.
The ADPL provides the framework for Australia’s high performance domestic competition. Through the ADPL, the league is utlised to assist in scouting Australian national team players, while also playing an important role in the development of Australian domestic dodgeball.
