Asian Champions | One Year Anniversary

A year to the day, our Chemist Warehouse Australian Dodgeroos won its first piece of silverware, and in doing so were crowed Asian Champions in the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed categories on home soil.

What a moment it was for everyone involved. An event we all have fond memories of, and one which can be seen as the catalyst for further success on the domestic and international stage.

The Dodgeroos will look to defend their crowns at next year’s Asian Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (September 29 – October 1). We can’t wait!

Quotes From Our Dodgeroos, One-Year Later:

Dillon Jesudhason:

Amazing team and even better blokes! Next stop, England for the World Cup!

Mitch Hartshorn:

So proud to have played alongside these top blokes and come out winners of the Asian Dodgeball Championship!!

Congratulations to the Women’s and Mixed team also for winning their respective divisions too!

A big thank you to the Malaysian, Singapore and Hong Kong teams for a fantastic and fun tournament, and also President of DFA Robert Di Fabio for the organisation of the weekend.

And a special mention to Caitlan Bourke who sat in the grandstand the whole time supporting us through, thank you.

Meals Fitzsimons:

This time last year I was fortunate enough to represent my country, for the first time in a sport I’d only ever heard about in the movies!

One year on, I can’t imagine my life without this sport in it. The people that I’ve met, have become my friends and my dodgeball family, make this (in my humble opinion) the greatest sport EVER!!!

Love all you guys!

Tara Skellerup:

So proud of everyone over the weekend and what we achieved. We all played amazing dodgeball and pulled off the final win in the women’s, men’s and mixed!

To all the Aussie girls I played with, it was so much fun playing with you and we all worked great as a team. I feel so privileged to have played with you all and represent Australia!

Thanks to the Malaysian team for being the loveliest team to play against. You girls just made it even more enjoyable! The whole weekend was so competitive and we battled it out until the end.

Good luck in Manchester and hope to see you over there!
But to all the Aussies, congrats on winning all three gold medals in the different categories!
ALL DAY!

Lakita Seigafo:

Wow, what a weekend and what an amazing experience that was! Getting to represent your country playing dodgeball is one thing, but to take out the Asian Championships and qualify for the World Cup in Manchester next year is unbelievable! Feeling so blessed!

Thank you so much to the Australian Women’s team. I’ve only gotten to know you these past couple of weeks, but you all have been amazing, have so much talent and put so much heart into the sport we all love!

To the Malaysian team, thank you for giving us a run for our money! You played some awesome dodgeball and I honestly couldn’t have asked for such a great team to compete against.

You are the loveliest / humble bunch of women. I wish you all the best & hope to see you in Manchester next year!

Also a special shout out to Vanessa Tan who drew MVP with myself. So much talent yesterday it was incredible, feel honored to receive this award!

Katrina Kotsakis:

WINNERS! So proud of the Australian Dodgeroos, who hat-tricked the Asian Championships and claimed victory in all three categories.

To all those who came to watch, your support meant the world to me and made victory even sweeter. Onwards to Manchester!

Max Heid:

Championship winning throw. Big shout-out to the guys and gals that put in so much hard work to get us across the line, and crowned champions of Asia!
